You never built a project for your community
An uncomfortable question before you go on: in the last six months, what did you create for your community that didn't exist before? Not what you posted. What you created. Most IBs (trading mentors) have no answer, and it isn't laziness: it never occurred to them that this was part of the job. That's why activating your trading community isn't an idea problem: nobody ever sat down to think about it.
Answering messages isn't leading. It's attending
Almost your whole day is reactive: you answer what arrives, you post whatever comes to mind that morning, you solve what someone asks. It's real work and it's needed, but all of it responds to something someone else started.
Leading is the opposite: you are the one who starts something. Your community isn't waiting for more content. It's waiting for someone to lead it.
Why you never thought about it
It isn't a lack of will. It's three things almost nobody says out loud:
- Posting already feels like work, so the day ends full and nothing seems to be missing.
- A project can fail in front of everyone; a post nobody reads goes unnoticed.
- Nobody asked you for it, because your community can't ask for what it has never seen.
A project is smaller than you think
I'm not talking about an event or a budget. A project is something with a date, a name, and it leaves something behind: a week on a single theme, a fixed Q&A session, one member's progress told publicly with their permission. That's all. What has no date and no name isn't a project: it's an intention.
And if no new people are coming in either, that's a different problem and I wrote about it separately: why your community isn't growing.
Do it today: put a date on one single thing
Open your calendar, pick a day in the next ten and announce something with a name: “Thursday at 8, half an hour of questions”. Don't prepare material. If you can't name a single thing you created this year, start with one; the second one costs half as much.
And if what's hard isn't starting but keeping it up every week, I wrote about that here: Consistency doesn't break for lack of motivation.
Lead your community: Stage 5 of the academy
In IB ACADEMY, Stage 5 works on what turns a group into a living institution: which projects sustain it, at what rhythm they're announced and how they hold up when you have a bad week.

I work with the IBs in our network so their community grows with a system, not with improvisation: attract, support, retain and organise a portfolio. Here I write about that work, with no income promises.
